Strings starting to make fingers smell

I have EB Hybrid Slinkies on my bass and have had since maybe March. I'm not in band and don't sweat to much when I'm playing but after I'm down playing my fingers are starting to get a real metal smell to them. I'm just wondering if it might be time for a change or not. I mean the strings still sound good and are no no problems I'm just wondering if they get that smell is it bad.

Sure, blame it on the strings.

Seriously though, try cleaning them with alcohol. If they still sound good there's no reason to change them.

Lol, I'll try the alcohol. I didn't want to boil them because I heard that it only makes strings last like 2 days until they break.

I scrubbed each of my 3 basses and 2 guitars and are letting them dry. I scrubbed my main bass twice. Hopefully this will work until I can afford string for each of them.
