I just got my first 5-banger and it is still strung with the factory setup.
As i love to try different strings, what did you try on that bass and what would you recommend for a fat, full sound?
(besides the factory strings. The y sound good but i wanted to know some alternatives).
I do like strings with a little more tension.

I bought a second Stingray not long after I sold that one and just because I was kind of lazy I left the original Slinkys on for a while. They finally got kind of dull sounding to me, which I really like, but I was also missing the higher tension. About two weeks ago I finally put on another set of Lo Riders on this one, but this time I got a nickel set. It's been a while since I played Lo Riders so the difference in tension was obvious, but I'm enjoying the change. I should have done this right away.
I really like these strings. They're long lasting, I like the higher tension, they sound GREAT, and the nickels feel pretty nice under my fingers, too.

I just got my first Stingray, a 5 HH, from a fellow TBer. I have various basses with various strings and am wondering what to do with this one. It's got the original Slinkies on it but they are not quite my style, I like something a little higher tension and fatter in sound.
D'Addario Chrome Flats? T-I Nickel Flats? Any rounds that people think are particularly good with this bass?

If I could still find the Ken Smith "Slap Master" strings in my area, I might use them when the mood strikes. |
