Which Strings for an SX SJB-75

Sign in to disble this ad
I finally took the plunge and got an electric bass (I'm over from the dark side of the board).

I've purchased an SX SJB-75. I've heard that the stock strings aren't too great.

I haven't played electric in years and have no idea about current strings.

What are my best options for this bass? Can anyone give me some ideas of string brands and what sound (song or style) I could expect?

Thanks,

Touch

Sice you play upright stick with what works for you, Flatwounds. Try D'Addario Chromes or GHS Flats. 45-105 or 45-100 guage. You should be able to handle 45-105's with no problem.

All strings are good. What do you want to sound like?

I think D' Addario XL 170s or 165s are a good starting point. They have sounded descent on every bass I have owned. You can decide from there if you want more or less brightness and more or less tension.
