strings taper too quickly

K, so here is the dealio with my Cort 3535.

The bass is a 35 inch scale string through instrument and the body is about 1.85 inches thick, so I found out the hard way that d'addario long scale tapers too quickly before it even reaches the nut. the B E and A strings are as thick as the D string wear it contacts the nut, and the taper lays right over the first fret for the B and E string, so it comes for some nasty fret buzz.

can you guys recommend any good bass strings that are longer than the d'addario longs? I've found a couple DR strings that's supposed to accommodate up to 37.5 inches, and I am about to try d'addario super long scales, but I was wondering if there were any other ulternatives.

BTW, Cort makes their special strings for this bass model but the sound is too warm for my taste. It can't handle slap and pop well- doesnt produce enough twang

thanks in advance!

D'addarrio makes extra long scale strings for that very reason.Regular long scale strings on a 35" scale come up short. DR's will work too.
