Strings that'll give you the most mwah

Sign in to disble this ad
I hate to start yet another fretless string thread, but unlike most people I know pretty much exactly what I want - I just need some suggestions. Basically I'm looking for something that'll give me the most mwah possible out of a squier vm. Apparently low gauge nickel rounds seem the way to go so please just name some brands that do this well. Also, I don't want anything too britle sounding on the high end and I'd like some darker low end with growl.

One more thing, what will help keep the ebanol neck 'safe' from wear? Where can I get it? How often should I apply it?

Thanks!

I'm a big fan of Ken Smith Compressors and GHS Pressurewounds for fretless.

DR---- i dont think flats will give you the most mwah -- i have TI flats on my fretless, when i first got it i had DR Sunbeams and they had much more of the Mwah sound . But i just love the TI flats .Look on the DR site .IMHO you want rounds to get the MOST mwah. If you do decide on flats TI are the bomb-and last forever.

Just checked your profile -you probably know more about this stuff then i do......lol
DR - handmade -good stuff -check their site...... good luck

as far as protecting the fingerboard - i dont know -but i put myself on the waiting list at HG THOR to have him epoxy mine. another good site to check out, even if your not going that way it a cool site to see some killer work he does....

Not flats for mwah, no mway

Most mwah - DR Sunbeams (more than compressorwounds, and I use both).

Great strings. I can't use them on my Zon 'cos that combination creates TOO much mwah.

Paying HG Thor $400 to epoxy a <$300 bass seems wrong to me but it's your call.
It takes a long time to put serious wear on an ebonol board. Play it and enjoy it, and don't worry about it.
