Strings for A# tuning

Sign in to disble this ad
After having bought a set of DR black beauties, that i didn't really like. I'm looking for new strings again. I first tuned BEAD but i want to tune lower and now i'm looking for a good set of strings for A# tuning. I eventually ended up on the circle k strings site, which i hear a lot of good things about. I'm just wondering what would be the best string gauges for this tuning? I myself was thinking about a 142 set but i don't know if that would be right.

I use .145 for my low A. Just about tight enough, I like real tight strings though (so why the hell do I tune to a low A? Cause guitarists are stupid and think lower tuning = heavier.

Also at least on my 34" 5'er, the B string is tapered too little so at the tuning peg mine snapped.

I like my strings heavier, so I'd opt for a Balanced Standard 150 set. That's what I use for a standard B tuning, so a half step down would also work just fine.

Yeah, i got recommended a balanced standard 150 set by Knuckle Head as well. So that's what i've ordered. Now i just have to wait for them. Since i live in holland it will probably take a while to get here.
