Strings to warm up an Ibby SR500

Any string recommendations to get a warmer and rounder tone on a soundgear? I like the vintagey fingerstyle funk tone, but don't really know if I would be happy with flats. The factory strings are pretty bright and clanky.

And please don't just tell me to buy a Fender.

You could try some coated nickel wound strings, maybe even find some pure nickel wounds. Most strings that advertise nickel wound are actually nickel plated steel. GHS and other string manufacturers also make strings that are half round, or roller wound so that they are a little more mellow. Kind of a mix between round wound and flats. That might be the trick for you.

The GHS Pressure Wounds are what Ranysmojo is getting at. They press the outer wrapping into more of an oval shape before they wind around the string. This makes the string very smooth to the touch, less high end tinny ness, and makes a very punchy sounding string.

The sound is pretty cool and they feel great.
