Strings for Warwick 5 string tailpiece

Sign in to disble this ad
Folks,
I've spent my available time over the last 3 days looking for posts on this and haven't found any. Please point me in the right direction if this has been addressed before and please accept my apologies in advance.

I have a Warwick Corvette FNA Jazzman. I've been playing the black labels that came on it. I don't mind the sound, but i would love to try some others. If for no other reason than educating myself to the different sounds.

First, there is the problem with the tail piece that requires tapered strings. I'm about to go ahead and VERY carefully open up the B string slot to accept other string brands.

Second, I'm not sure what strings would sound good. I'm not a great musician. I can play in the pocket, but only with VERY basic notes. I have NO flash. I play mostly in church - contemporary Christian stuff. Doesn't call for a lot of effects or anything. Just a good sound.

I've posted this in the strings section as I'm really looking for some strings to try right now without re-inventing the wheel. However, I'm open to any advice on any subject (re: bass lol). Please feel free to PM me to keep this thread from going off topic.
Thanks alot.

You can use anything, just crimp the end a bit with some pliars and they'll go in.

I like DR hi beams best on Warwicks.
