| I have a Corvette Std active bubinga 4 myself and have tried a bunch of strings on it.
Ernie Ball Slinkys- feel good, but sound pretty meh to me. Nothing to the tone at all.
SIT Silencers- my favorite. Smooth out the tone and add fatness but still keep the inherent growl of the bass. Feel really smooth under the fingers too. I get a nice rumble when I pluck really close to the neck. Reasonably priced too.
Silencers are a pressurewound string, so they're a compromise between rounds and flats.
DR nickel Lo-Riders- You really can't go wrong with DR strings on a Warwick. I recorded with these strings on my 'wick and I thought they sounded good. It took a while for the strings to grow on me, but they did.
DR strings typically last a long time. I'm not a fan of coated strings, though. I've tried Elixirs on another bass and hated the feel. Too slippery.
Ritter Swordsteels- AMAZING fingerstyle tone. Absolute best fingerstyle tone I've ever heard. The strings are also the absolute smoothest and most flexible steel strings I've ever tried. Did I mention the amazing fingerstyle tone? However, they're prohibitively expensive and the slap tone is absolute garbage. It's really clunky. No snap at all. If it weren't for the horrid slap tone and exorbitant price tag, these strings would be heaven.
Since you seem to be into DRs since you mentioned the black beauties, I would say try the DR Hi-Beams.
One thing I would agree with on is that Warwick strings are terrible.
