Strings wrapping around tuning peg

I've got a yamaha bass and I just replaced the strings. My question is, all the strings have a "wrap" around the end that is threaded through the tuning pegs. My issue is with the e-string. I've gone beyond the wrap and the actual wound part of the string is about to start to wrap around the tuning peg. Is that a problem? All the other strings are fine. My bass is a Yamaha BB404. Nope, it's not a problem at all. The silk wrapping mainly just helps to keep the string together when you cut the end to the right length. And it just looks good

My Fender Jazz is the same. It used to really bug me, now I just don't look at it! Never had a problem caused by this
