Does anyone know what strings are on my new Yamaha BBNE2? They have a red wrap on the top ? I would guess they are Yamaha but haven't seen them before nor have I ever used Yamaha strings

Red wrap sounds like rotosound, GHS, or TI. What do they feel/sound like? Was the bass new or used?

They are Yamaha strings, and I think GHS makes them. My guess is that because Yamaha's big instrument presence in the US is is Michigan, they would look to a supplier close by. GHS is headquartered in Battle Creek.

That and the red silk.

It is a new bass. Just got it yesterday and liked the red silk look and wanted to order a set or two.

My first yamaha had strings with red silk, and they felt similar to ghs strings as well. It was a beginner's bass so I'm not sure if they are the most expensive strings.

Probably GHS Boomers. Most companies put 45-105 gauge on their basses. If you go with those, they will probably be exactly what came on the bass out of the box. Good, solid, middle of the road nickel strings.

Thanks guys. I'll pick up some GHS if I can't find the Yamaha local
