I have steel strings on my Geddy Lee that the prior owner put on, not sure of the brand but I do not like them (too harsh and a buzz after releasing some frets-the buzz can be remedied by making the action higher but that's not what I want since I prefer lower action).
My tech suggested EB Slinky Hybrid Nickel Wound (orange pack) but want to get some opinions first before buying. He said my steel strings on a maple neck double the harshness and buzz.
I am aiming for a smoother, warmer and rounder tone (if that makes sense), not the wirey, harsh one the current strings give.
Those EB Slinky's should work well for the kind of tone you want. Or you could try out some Rotosounds those are usually pretty good, too. Im a DR steel man myself, though.

They sound great, and with the pickguard removed, really look nice too.
