Strings on your WARWICK or Basslines P/U's

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for a full sounding string. Little bright, growl and crunch is desired but opposite of my current strings, I want a very full, warm sounding string.

I'm playing a Warwick Streamer w/ Bassline p/u's and have tried 2 brands so far. First I had "Boomers" (red pack) on and actually didn't really mind them. Had to replace with "Blue Steal" as it was the only thing available to complete my bass, 6-string.

The current strings sound really "boxy" like playing on a large, hollow cardboard box.... round, but hollow.

Has anyone tried "Sadowsky's", liked them? Any other suggestions?
I'm having trouble finding the nice 6-string Boomers pack I used to get, but looking to experiment anyway.......

Thanks!

dunno about basslines, but my standard SSII w MECs seems to like bright strings best. Think all WWs might like the furthest thing away from flats, in terms of string-tone-spectrum...
Got a set of fender 7250s on there now, and they've grown increasingly dark as they've aged. nickelplated steel rounds. I wonder sometimes where all that treble definition has gone, and then I think, nah, I like this.
not sure if fender do a full 6 set though.
good luck,
reens

I just threw the new Sadowksy Blue Label Bright Nickel Round | 5-string Standard on my corvette 5. I love them right out of the pack. I played boomers on my four, but as you know, you need tapered on the 5 or 6. I didn't like the stock warwick black labels(too coarse). Itired the warick yellow label, but they just lacked something, not the greatest low end. I threw the sadowsky's on and there is LIFE! They have all of the chraracteristics that you want! Go with the new Sadowsky Blues. They are much warmer sounding than the boomers also

I love the standard Warwick Blacks. Big full sounding strings!

Might be worth giving them a shot.

My Corvette Standard has Basslines as well (it used to have MECs.) Since the Duncans impart a thicker low end, I've found that the SIT Silencers that complemented the MECs so well sound very boomy with the Duncans.

I've tried Ken Smith steels and liked them. D'Addario Prisms and ProSteels were nice as well. I still want to try DR's (maybe the Lo-Rider steels; I liked the Lo-Rider nickels with the MECs) and maybe Fodera steels (I liked Fodera nickels with the MECs.)

Anyone else with a Duncan equipped Warwick want to weigh in on strings? I'm curious as well.

Bzzzztt, I need to grab a set of Hi-Beams ASAP!

Not only do the Lo-Riders sound dull in comparison, but they are rough to play too. Lots of friction, more than any other string I've tried out. That surprised me.

DR's are the way to go! Either Lo-Riders or Fat Beams. I have Fat Beams on my $$ and they sound fantastic!

I'm liking the Elixer Super Light (40-125) strings on my Warwick (MEC pu's, SD preamp). A little bit of trouble fitting the low B though as it is not tapered.

Fodera strings. The best I ever had.
