As most of you know Iam an old guitar player new at playing bass. Anyway its time to change strings on my P-bass. I like a deep smooth sound which my bass didnt have. it had the strings on it that came with it when I got it new. Ive played basses with flats on them on them but once you hit the the string the sounds gone. Another bass player at the guitar center told me to use GHS Presure something strings. Has anyone heard are tryed these strings they are not exspensive online.

Just FYI...

as of right now (10:09am) there's over 1100 users currently online here at talkbass. That varies throughout the day, but remains high most of the time.

Many people underestimate the amount of traffic and assume the membership is small. Very likely that 'most' don't know your situation at being new to bass.

Try searching the Strings section of talkbass. Mucho info there on all strings.

This will get moved to the string forum ...

But here is what you need to know

Used them for years, before I made the switch to TI flats.

Yes I suggest you try TI Flats - they's got bags of treble, are not thumpy at all, and sound absolutely llike just what you're looking for if you want smooth, bassy, and not overly zingy. And they last for years!

I'm not sure where you're coming from here, because my flats have very nearly as much sustain as my rounds.
The TI flats I'm using now are pretty much the smoothest, creamiest pieces of wonderfulness I've ever played, when you play 'em lightly. And they've got some great thump when you ply them hard.

I have Ernie Ball Hybrids on my P. They sound and feel great, IMO. Roll off the tone a bit and they still give that great thump, with plenty of sustain.

I was told this by a bass salesman at the Guitar center. The strings on my Pbass are the ones that came on it. The guy at the guitar center told me about flats. And thats why I come to you guys.
