When you change your strings, about how many wraps do you get around the tuning peg? I just put some EB Hybrids on and the A barely got 2 1/2 wraps and I didn't even cut it. The others were fine. I put them on a Fender Geddy Jazz. I wonder if they mixed a short scale in the bunch. I guess 2 1/2 wraps is good enough? Thanks.

I try for 3 wraps depending on the bass. If I can get another turn on without the string bunching up I'll do that, just to get more of a downward angle. But I've mistakenly done 2 wraps on a Fender and had no problems with the string ever slipping.

OK, thanks.

I cut my strings 4 1/2" to 5" longer than the pegs. The 1st inch has a 90 degree bend - its a little overkill, but thats how I like it.

I cut about 3" past my tuners and usually get about 3 wraps.

Why didn't anyone ever tell me bossa nova sounded so good?

I cut the distance between the first and third tuning peg. It seems to do the job.

I don't care too much how many wraps I end up with, and to be honest, I've never count how many wraps I've gotten. As soon there's at least a couple of laps, I'm fine. I'm more concerned with how tightly I wrap them to make them stay in tune better.
