Suggestions to cure "floppy" Low A on a Warwick Jazzman

Sign in to disble this ad
So, just strung my Warwick up with a set of LaBella "Deep Talkin' Flats". I play a step down from standard and the B string is quite floppy. I'm using the .129 B that came with the set (it was the biggest flat I could find in their sets) and the string has quite a low tension.

Anyone got any ideas what I could be doing wrong or what would be a good single string I could replace the B with? Absolutely love the feel of the other 4.

Yes, I've done the Low A thing too, and experienced the same. That ended the experiment for me. I would go to a larger gauge B. Something like .132 or .135. It may or may not work, depending on the string type and gauge you are using, but it is worth a try if you really want to use the low A. Gol to www.jsutstrings.com and go to the single strings section. Good luck.

Anyone have any experience with a roundwound B and the rest flatwound? I'm really digging these flats, except the B and LaBella dont do a higher gauge B.
