I boiled the strings on my Squier and now it sounds like utter crap, so I was wondering if you guys had some suggestions on what kind of HEAVY 4 string set I should try...

I play everything but metal.

Thanks for any help guys!

I just put some new 50-70-85-105 Fender 7150s on my California P/J. I find the sound to be fat with clarity, though not overly bright, in the highs.

Here's a tip: Don't boil strings. Try Denatured Alcohol in a PVC pipe tube for cleaning strings. PM me and I'll give you directions on how to make one.

It'll make your strings as good as new.
