Can any of you compare and contrast DR sunbeams and TI Superalloys?

I can, because you've named two of my favorite strings of all time. Let's start with feel: They both have moderately loose tension. While neither is sloppy, I would say they both have a slinky feel to them. The SA's seem to be just a bit tighter. Both strings emphasize the mids, with the SA's even more so in the upper mid freq's. Neither have that high end sizzle when new, but both retain their original highs for quite some time. The SB's have a fuller bottom end. I did notice the SA's did last longer. I use the denatured alcohol treatment every couple of weeks, and the SA's responded much better. So much in fact, that my first set lasted a YEAR!! That is considering I usually change strings at least once a month. I just couldn't get rid of the SA's!! They just kept on sounding and feeling great. On my Peavey Cirrus, there was no better match. (alder body, rosewood top) On the other hand the SB's sounded better on my walnut Cirrus. Now the interesting part- I tried a new set of SA's (my #1 favorite) on my ash body Roscoe, and I hated them. I thought they lacked just about everything but the upper mids. (go figure) So take my review with a grain of salt. Others may have a totally different opinion of both depending on their own experiences.

I've found the Superalloys to be a bit warmer sound all and all vs. Sunbeams. Sunbeams have a more upper mid, nickle plated steel sound to me. SA's were warmer due to the special alloy they use, vs. the nickle plated steel.

SA's do last a bit longer too...

I like these both as well as my favorate Nickle/Warm strings. Rotosound an Hi-Beams for stainless!

I have never tried superalloy's. The Sunbeams are great to me because of the flexibility, which I like. I'm a soft player, so some don't like them because their technique makes things sound clackety. I also like the smooth, polished feel of the Sunbeams. They don't seem to grab flesh like some strings, so slides and trills are much easier to pull off (pardon the pun).
