Well im in sort of a doozy here, anyone know a set that has that same metallic super bright tone that a fresh new pair of Daddario Nickel Wounds get but without the 1 week life, usually on a 1 week old set on my 5ver, a slap starts sounding like a thump ,

the way the sound brand new, is the way they sound for MONTHS AND MONTHS.
brand new stainless steel strings usually sound INCREDIBLY bright but only for a week or so.. then sound dull.
I would rather have new elixirs sound a little less bright than typical new strings, but remain bright for a very very long time. |

If want bright roundwounds that stay bright for a long time, you just have to settle for a little less bright at the outset. Those are the kinds that seem to stay bright the longest. Various brands will work in that regard...mostly nickel rounds.
