The Super long scale list

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Lecompte TRex5, that needs this length due to the Fanned Fret thing. I am trying to compile any info here of resources for Super long scale (SLS) (36" - 38") strings, makes, models, nickel, Steel, flat, round, coated, etc. etc.

I see D'A has some EXL SLS types, anyone have any other brands/makes that would fit this thread would be a compiler for all who need them.

GHS makes Long Scale Plus sizes.

I believe all of their flats are for 35 and 36 inch scale by default.

Thanks...I dont yet know enough to say LSP is the same as SLS brand for brand. Variables like through body add an inch, the A string tuner post is so high on the headstock, the actual string length (not scale length) needed to get at least 3 wraps would be or not be an SLS....thats where I am getting the need for some exact resources. When I get some SLS/LSP sets I will post real dimensional criteria here...if anyone has already gone through this exercise, their findings of what brand/length works would be a time saver for sure.

You might want to consider dingwall strings.

dingwalls are fanned fretted too and they make their own sets of strings. I enjoy mine.

Thanks JP...forgot about Sheldon...there is a good amount of XL string sizing chat going on in this linked thread from his forum that is a good resource.

DR reps told me that all their string wounded up to 37" 1/4 (maybe 37" 3/4). I have 6 string set of "Low Riders" in my bag for a month and had no chance to check this yet. LaBella extra long scale fits to 35" bass with strings-thru-body (well. almost fits. B string wounding ends right on the nut).

Update...a while back when Sadowsky had a sale on 5 packs of 5 string sets I bought them and they fit the 36", even to where I had to cutoff the B and G strings to wind them into the tuner peg core. So Sad's are a fit for SLS.
