Super long scale strings to accomodate fanned frets?

Sign in to disble this ad
Whatcha guys think?
I tried putting a set of Sunbeams on my new Jack Read w/ fanned frets and it just didn't fly.
Since the B string has a 37 scale, it was just too long.

Who does make a string that will fit?
Are DR Longnecks longer than Sunbeams?

Thanks. Keep it low

I'm tuned in 'cause I'm looking for alternatives too. I called the D'Addario southern US rep today to find out if they'll start making Prosteels tapered to fit my DW. Hopefully he'll call back tomorrow. The DW strings are good too which I'm using right now.
Burning, Juneau, Geoff, FrankM & others that I can't recall will be along shortly to add. Some of these guys have already looked into alternatives & can shed some light.

check out the sting section at the dingwall bass guitar forum (http://www.dingwallguitars.com/forum/). There are a bunch of string manufacturers who make sufficiently long enough strings (found here http://www.dingwallguitars.com/forum...opic.php?t=11). In fact a new poster wrote that he got superalloys from thomastik and they were too long.
Anyway there are a number of great strings
