Super short scale (24.75") strings

I recently got an old kingston student bass and it has a very short 24 3/4" scale.

I've looked at the offerings for some of the big string companies, but none of them offer bass strings for less than a 30" scale.

Where can I find some good, cheap strings that will fit this bass? I'd prefer flatwound but roundwound is fine too.

Are the tuners like bass tuners, with holes big enough to hold full thickness bass strings?

I built a 25.5" scale bass and use the 4 low strings from a 5 string set tuned EADG. The .130" diameter "E" string allows me to get the tension up to where it sounds decent.

I have the same problem; I've got a Samick mini bass (25" scale), and have tried it strung ADGC, eadg (piccolo/octave up/guitar whatever you want to call it), and recently chopped up the BEAD out of a five string set to tune it to E standard (like a full-size bass).

I love the playability, and it's got a certain thumpy, tubbiness to the sound that you only really get with short scale basses, but I had to cut and unwind part of the B to make it work, AND it's taperwound, so it doesn't really sound so good, and I'm afraid it's going to explode any minute.

I've been considering contacting one of the guys that makes strings for extended range basses, and seeing if a 25" scale .130 low E could be wound. The rest of the strings are easy.

Are you planning to play it as a regular low Bass or as a Piccolo Bass?
If Piccolo, then why not use the D and G strings of a Bass tuned up to E and A, then use Guitar strings E and A tuned Down to D and G.
Alternative would be a set of Piccolo Bass strings by D'addario EXL280.

Take a look at this clip of Fun on a Piccolo Bass:-
