Super Step B String

Is the exposed core La Bella Super Step as good as the tapered Hard Rockin' Steel B?

Anyone try the Super Steps on a Sadowsky? Any warble up high on any of the strings?

I've heard Hard Rockin' Steel B is the best.

I have had great luck with the Hard Rockin' B. It and the Carvin B (La Bella Slapper) have blown away every other B I have tried on my Sadowsky (and I have been thru quite a few). I just don't like the non tapered E all that much (it used to be tapered). I am wondering if I throw down the cash for a set of Super Steps, if I will get the same great La Bella B.

They're very strong and clear, all the way down to B.

Yes, just as good as HRS. A little different tone, just a tiny bit more modern.

Dave, did you find the Super Steps to be as good as the tapered HRS sets from back in the day? Did you ever get a set on your Sadowsky. Thanks

The B string is killer, really similar to HRS. The rest of the set isn't really my bag. Its somewhere in between HRS and something like a Dean Markley SR2000. More modern and piano-impactful than rock'n'roll growly.

I'm using the Pedulla version of this formula now and like them a lot. The steels are more interesting than the nickels and I like the evenness of the all-taper better set than even the old HRSs.

Thanks. I am about to throw on a set of SS Pedullas. I like the nickel La Bellas (Pedulla, Carvin) but they seem to go dead pretty quick compared to the steels. We'll see how this next set of SS goes. I am thinking about buying a bunch of Carvins and just changing them every two weeks. I wish Carvin did a steel set in 45-105.
