Superalloys and La Bella Slappers

Anyone compare the two?

I just switched from light Hard Rockin Steels to a heavier Superalloy on my RV5 and I really like the sound. Very balanced between modern and vintage. However, in less than a week I have popped the D string at the bridge. This is the first string I have broken since the 80's. Hopefully they will replace it at $40 a five string set. However it they do not, I am not sure I can buy another set but I really want that sound...

I've used both ... I'd say they're more similar than different, both very much on the warm and fat end of the spectrum. Slappers have a better low B.

That is what I was hoping to hear. Is the B in the ballpark of the HRS B?

Warm and fat. That is what I find myself liking more and more. I just played 1.5 hours at the company picnic for the third year in the row. And I got more compliments since switching from light gauge steels to medium nickels.

Its pretty close to HRS quality, yes. Less edgy/growly, but still that great labella vibe. The super-steps aren't quite as good, but HRS and Slappers are both top notch.

Just to close the loop. Thanks to the US distributor, Christopher L. Rohrecker, he sent me a replacement D string after TI asked me to return the defective string for failure analysis.
