On my P shorty, I use Rotosound 88's. I had to enlarge the bridge holes and file the nut slots a little, but I love the sound. On my J shorty, I go back and forth between Roto 66's and 77's depending on the gig. I've also used 77's on the P, but I like the upright-sounding thump of the 88's better. The 77's are pretty bright for flats - if you want something midway between the 77's and 88's, I've also tried the LaBellas. Not my favorite, but I seem to be in a minority around here in that regard.
