SX Short Scale flats?

I've never used flats but may try them on my SX short scale with "P" configured pickups. Suggestions?

Thanks

Fender, TI, LaBella, or D'Addario Chromes. Not necessarily in that order. I really like the Chromes myself. Nice thumpy tone but not without a little brightness, too.

On my P shorty, I use Rotosound 88's. I had to enlarge the bridge holes and file the nut slots a little, but I love the sound. On my J shorty, I go back and forth between Roto 66's and 77's depending on the gig. I've also used 77's on the P, but I like the upright-sounding thump of the 88's better. The 77's are pretty bright for flats - if you want something midway between the 77's and 88's, I've also tried the LaBellas. Not my favorite, but I seem to be in a minority around here in that regard.

Anyone ever tried the Labella Deep talking tape wound strings? They are black. May be too big to fit a short scale

The short scale SX Jazz clone I own came with a set of flats that are really good. I can tell by looking that it appears that only light gauge strings can be used unless you widen the holes in the bridge. Since I do not care for anything over .100-.40 anyway, that's okay.
The most extensive selection of short scale strings for purchase I have seen are on the net are found are at www.juststrings.com and www.bpstrings.com. They can be had in any gauge and string type just like their 34 inch cousins.
