T I Powerbass

Hello all,

I'm checking to see if anyone is playing the TI Powerbass strings.

I have a set ready to go on to my Ken Smith 5str but I've been very happy with the DR Sunbeams for the past four years.

Lemme know.

Regards, Kirk

I used Powerbass strings for a while, in my quest to find a good set for DGCF tuning. I thought they had a very neutral sound, somewhat lacking in character and definitely a little too tame for a loud rock band. But, that's just me.. depending on your playing style and what kind of band you're in, they could be the perfect strings for you. There's only one way to find out..

TI Super Alloy's are the round of choice for me. They are a little more polite out of the box than other rounds - they sound a lot like a Rotosound swing bass after the Roto's have settled in for a couple of weeks - except - better string to string balance I find. The Super Alloy's go on sounding good and they stay that way for ages.

TI vs DR

Hey all,

Thanks for the response.

I' gonna take Dave's advice and "just put them on".

I'll let you all know.

Regards, Kirk

Hello all,

Well, the TI Powerbass 5str set went on my Smith today.

The DR Sunbeams served me very well for about three years and I would use them again. I don't play with a heavy hand and I really like the low tension of this set. The first thing I noticed was that the TI feel is very close to the DR. The TI claims to have a hex core vs the round core of the.

I have a gig at a local ski area with a five piece blues band tomorrow and I'll post my observations.

Later, Kirk
