are there any tape wound flat bass strings that aren't black? maybe gray or something? i like the way they feel, but the black strings seem a bit to flashy for me.

thanks!

From what I can tell, non-black tapewounds do not exist.

None that I know of. It'd be cool to have some in white and use a black light on stage though.

They're called Black nylon tapewounds for a reason. Sorry man.

I know they were available in red. But that's going back nearly 30 years ago... they sounded like sh!t anyway.

I have some brown ones, but I got these back in the '70s. Can't for the life of remember the brand, but I bought them for my Baldwin bass — which sounds crappy no matter the type of strings on it.

Actually, the Rotosound TruBass tapewounds do go gray-ish after a long enough time (+1 year).
Haven't had the LaBella's for even half that long (and these don't have an added coating like the Roto's) but I doubt that they age in the same way... Oh, and I do whipe them off after playing with alcohol 96%.
