The Taper on B Strings Come to Soon

While in the world would D'Diardio make the B string taper so soon on LONG SCALE strings. If I try to use the string thru body option on my new lakland the b string starts to taper off at around the first fret. Its totally an awful design! This may be just a little mini rant but I'm pissed! With the cost of bass strings they could at least make them useable

They are usable, if you buy the right set. You need the Super Long set for stringing through the body. The set you have will probably work strung through the bridge.
