Taper Core vs Tapewound (Black Nylons)

I see GHS makes a tapewound and a taper core bass string. Anyone know the difference between these 2 as far as consistency and sound?

Two different things entirely.

A tapercore string set usually has the B, E, and sometimes the A string become much thinner right by the bridge, even sometimes down to the very core of the string. Otherwise, it's just a regular roundwound or flatwound string.

Tapewound strings are usually roundwound strings that are wrapped with a layer of plastic. They feel like flats, and have a smooth, upright-like, very high-mids kind of sound.
