Taper Wound Strings For 6 String With Through Body String Holes

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently purchased a set of Dean Markley SR2000s, medium gauge(.035 .048 .067 .084 .106 .127) for my Rogue LX406(35" scale length). The strings are amazing, but the tapered part doesn't go far enough up on the bridge where it has the through body string holes (at least that's what I've read), and the fabric at the top of the string rests on top of the nut, instead of above it. I've read what little information I could find on DR Longnecks, and they seem to have the longer taper and are made for a 35" scale lengths with the through body string holes. I just don't like the .30 gauge C string that comes with them in the Medium gauge set. It doesn't seem very medium to me. How do the DR Longnecks compare to the SR2000? Are there any other strings that will work for this type of bass that are like this? I'm looking for a sort of grand piano type of sound. Thanks in advance for the help.
