Taperwounds - Industry Standards?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey Guys

My new bass came with an Elixir .130 taperwound "B" string. I measured the distance from the end of the ball to the end of the taper (where the full .130 diameter starts), and got 2" even.
I called SIT, and they said their .130 TW has an overall distance of 2 7/8" which is 7/8" longer than the Elixir.

I'm going to use SIT Powerwounds, but if it's 7/8" longer - I'm going with a non-taper .130

Isn't there an industry standard for this? Thanks Guys
