Tapes

Looking to try a tapewound set.
Here are the things I am looking for.
1)I don't want to refile my nut. (Currently have .105 on the bass)
2)I like darker and thumpier tones.
3)I like low tension.
Any recommendations bearing in mind the above criteria?

While we are at it, I would love recommendations for flats that are thumpier and low tension as well.

Daddario makes a set that is 50-105. They should fit without you needing to refile your nut. I haven't tried them though so I can't comment on their tone. Fender has a set that is 58-110, but you might need to refile your nut to fit those ones. Rotosound makes some that you'd definatly have to refile for so I guess those are out of the question. Hope this helps.

Try the GHS tapes. They are a regular gauge, and aren't very expensive. If you hate them, you won't be out too much money.

All tapes, and I have tried pretty much all of them, are pretty easy on the hands. That's a pretty small gauge string under that plastic.
