Tapes on a Jazz?

I have a Fender Deluxe Jazz V (MIM) and Im thinking about trying out some LaBellla Tapewounds on it. Anyone have any experience with this kind of setup?

Actually, yes. There was a MIM Jazz (a four-banger) in my local L&M that I got to play with a bit. The thing felt AMAZING and the tone was great. I say go for it.

Beware though, I was told that La Bella tapes may have some QC issues. YMMV in that regard.

Greetings from the North,

I've been playin with LaBella Tapes for years and never had a problem with them. And yes they go great with Fenders.

Finally bit the bullet and got some labella's on it. They sound great on it so far. Nice clean sound.

I have D'Addario Tapewounds on my Squier Standard Precision V (which has two Jazz pickups.) I think it sounds pretty darn good!

Tapes on a Jazz are great! I always think of the classic Herbie Flowers tracks--great sound.

Tape wounds on a J Bass

Yeah I've been trying to get these tape wound strings to work on my Jazz Bass, I think they're La Bella... They sound great, but I find them quite sticky and slow. Would love to find a slightly thinner/lighter gauge in tape wound. I see Fender do some, but they still look pretty thick

I use RS88 tapes on my jazz. Absolutely love it. Smooth to play, with fantastic deep bass and a little bit of growling thunder if you dial it in.

If the silk is purple then they're labellas. If not maybe someone else can chime in.

The silk on Rotosounds is yellow I believe.

Just fyi, the D'Addario Tapes are gauged 1
50-105, much like typical rounds. They feel like flatwounds under my lef-hand, and the tension is like a light-gauge roundwound. Really great strings!

GHS and D'Addario tapes have much smaller gauges. Definitely worth a try.

GHS Tapes are red silk.
La Bellas are purple.
Rotos are gold.
Fender are black.
D'addario are blue like the Chromes.
