Tapewound string id help needed

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a set of black nylon tapewound strings that came with a used bass purchase. I'd like to get another set.

They have black silk and colored metal rings at the bridge.
E--Gold
A--Red
D--Silver
G--Surf Green

I think they are Fender 9120 Nylon Tapewounds but can someone please confirm.

Thanks

Those may be the 9120 tapes.

My medium gauge set that I bought a year or so ago is (with black silks):

E - gold
A - red
D - chrome/silver
G - light blue

Do your strings really show the tape windings? My Fender 9120s show the windings much more than the LaBella DTB 760N set and even moreso than the RotoSound TruBass 88s, which are so smooth you'd think that they were solid nylon and not wrapped.

Just a note: I bought a bass a year ago and they had what appeared to be an old set of these on them and they had not been changed in the 13 years the owner had the bass. The new set sounded exactly like the 13 year old set.

So, if you're getting a new set, put 'em on a second bass! Unless your current set is really worn out, of course.

Looks like they are 9120s. That is light blue on the G string.

Yeah, I liked these so much I wanted a set for my backup bass.

Thanks for the help.
