Tapewounds on a fretted bass

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got my first 4-string short scale fretted bass. I have been very happy with Fender nylon tape wounds on my fretless bass and I was thinking to get something similar for this new bass too.

Rotosound and LaBella seems to make short scale tape wounds. Do they last long on fretted basses? I would assume the nylon coating is soft and could get quickly damaged by the frets. After all tapewounds are easy on fretless fretboards.

Any other observations or opinions on these strings on a fretted bass are welcome too.

I had tapewounds on my fretted for a long time, and had absolutely zero problems with them "getting damaged." Steve Swallow plays nylon tapewounds on fretted with a metal pick, and it works out for him nicely.

That's great! I think I'll get a set of Rotosounds. Thanks for your reply.
