I've seen a number recommendations for tapewounds on hollow-body short-scale basses like the Beatle basses and the Rob Allen Mouse 30, but how do tapewounds sound on a solid-body short-scale bass?
I am finishing up a DIY defret project, and was thinking about using the short-scale set of Rotosound Tru Bass strings. Anyone have experience with these on a short-scale solid body fretless?
Would TI Jazz Flats be better suited to the solid body bass? These also come in a short-scale set, but I'm worried about the low tension making them too floppy on a 30" scale bass.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Rotos are good, but a bit odd for intonation - the Labella's used on the Rob Allen mouse are the best, but there's no slack in the design for thru ubody stringing - they'll just fit a standard bridge on a 30" scale.

Are the La Bella tapewounds much different sounding than the Rotos? I know the La Bellas are round under the tape while the Rotos are flat, but haven't read anything comparing them directly.
