Tell me about Ken Smith Slick Rounds

Well, I'm a die hard nickel roundwound user. However, I think I want to try something different on a particular bass. I love the punch of rounds, but I'm just getting a little tired of the 'clickety clack' of them slapping the fretboard when playing fingerstyle. This bass just seems to do it more than any of my others and I want to try to tame it.

I'm also open to suggestions, but Slick Rounds seem to be the ones I want to try.

I need a 5 string set, so that rules out a lot of 'groundwound' sets.

I've had flats in the past (Chromes) and I didn't like them at that time, but this is a different bass and of course I've progressed as a player. So I haven't ruled out flats yet, but I don't think I want to to that extreme yet.

So if you use Slick Rounds, how do you like them? I'm worried about high tension, how are these?

I'm not a big fan of the slickrounds myself. I thought they were pretty stiff feeling and they were really rough to the fingertips for quite a while. They also had a kind of lifeless sound, although I dug the slap sound, and the low B was nice and crisp.

My advice would be to skip the Slickrounds and get some Sadowsky flats. They sound like mellow-ish rounds in a flats disguise.
