Well, I put on my second pair of lo-riders - a little dissapointed with how fast the first set went dead. The first set showed no corrosion from the iner core to the outer wrap. I was dumbfounded.

Then this set was going bad fast too. Doing a search, I took up your method of cleaning the strings by using a cotton swab and denatured alcohol.

Wouldnt you know, I picked up black very fine lint on the swab. Turns out, the clean black sock I was using was breaking into very fine fibers and getting stuck between the wraps. Now my strings sound good.
