Are there any strings that sound like Rotosound 66 Swing Bass strings, but are cheaper and/or longer lasting/better/etc? I think Rotosounds sound awesome, and I was just wondering if there are other strings that sound like them with that piano sound and high-output. |

| | | | Nope, I have never used them. I've read that they are very good though. |

I switched to DR's awhile back and for me they last longer. I play the Nickle Lo-Riders, but if you want something closer to the 66's I agree go with the Hi-Beams.

How much cheaper can you get?

I think they are repackaged Labella strings. I have used the nickel, and stainless. I like the stainless better, and I feel they compare easily with RotoSound, but @ $13 a set, they are far more affordable. Only downside, is having to get them in the mail, and pay shipping. I buy 3 or more sets at a time, due to the $10 minimum shipping charge. |

Thought for a short time that the R. Cocco's were a close second but I was wrong. As stated by others, Roto's have their own sound and feel...and that is just a big part of what I'm after in playability and tone.
Qualifier: I dig strings that are rough on the fingers and fretboard...sort of comes with the territory (fingers without callous' beware)

the DR strings are cool and Pro Steels are nice as well...
as a side note, some people HATE Rotosound and complain they shred their fingers.. Never had it happen to me even after almost 20 years of playing.
