Thomastik Flatwound Scales

I am about to purchase Thomastik Flatwounds, but they are offered in 36 or 32, nothing in between. Standard Fenders are 34. I guess it makes sense to buy the 36s and trim the excess? I am tempted to buy the 32s, because bass strings always have excess length in my experience....

the # 34 is the scale and the next 4 is the amount of strings.

To be specific... Their "Long Scale" strings have a 37" winding from Ball End to Silk. Their Super Longs are 40" ball end to silk.. Their "Short Scale" are 35.75" ball end to silk...

Long Scale - 37"
