Yes I eventually put a set of TI's on the Hoffy because TI had told me that would fit the bass.
I wasn't happy. The E string wound around the post about 3/4of the way, and I didn't like that at all. The Hofner seems to like a little shorter string.
The other thing was that the E string was about a .106 while the other strings were in the .40 to .70 range. I never could get used to that odd "bump" in gauge from the E while playing.
I use TI flats on a P-bass and they are perfect, but not so on the Hofner, at least for me.
The upside was that the strings had a very nice tone to them and what seemed to be a bit more sustain than any other string I've tried on that bass. It's a shame the E had two oddities that I didn't like.
I have JF324s on 4 of my 5 Hofners, and love them. No problems at all. One or two may have an E that wraps a little onto the post, but no negative effects. The Pyramids on the other Hof are okay, but just don't sound or feel as good.
