| FYI, I have a 35" scale Lull P bass. I usually use DR's, which work fine as long as you string through the top. I usually use nickel low riders. However, on the Lull you can also string the B through the body, and they're not long enough for that. I got "long neck" DR's, and they are plenty long, but the taper at the ball end starts a little high. For the B that strings through the body, it's perfect. However, for the other 4 strings the taper starts a little too close to the pickup. If they could all string through the body, it would be the perfect strings. I'm having issues finding the right string that sounds good and is also long enough. I haven't tried TI's yet, but in my search for strings, emailed them and got this info on length from ball to the start of the taper at the nut:
"Here are the measurements of the 34" scale JF series: (The JR's, Jazz Rounds are almost identical in length)
From the ball end to the start of the silk wrap at peg head end:
C=37.26"
G=37.63"
D=37.38"
A=37.50"
E=37.75"
B=36.88"
The Powerbass:
C: 37.56"
G: 37.50"
D: 37.50"
A: 37.50"
E: 37.25"
B: 36.50"
There's about 3/4 of an inch of silk at the ball end and over a foot of silk wrap at the top. In a pinch, you can shave off about 3/4" to 1" of silk at the top before the first taper starts."
Hope that helps a little.
