Thomastik-Infeld Jazz 6

I have a 6 string that I primarily use.. I've experimented with a variety of strings. I actually really dig the Elixir nanowebs.. they sound good with my setup and the coating is almost like a lubricant. My question is if anyone has found a set of TI's (any in general) to be worth the money, and why? The price tag has always both pushed me away and attracted me.. it's a lot of money to dump on one set of strings. I seem to kill strings quick, probably due to my sweat and skin oils as a result of being a big fan of things like beer. On the other hand, for that price they must be special, especially considering they make double bass strings (also none of which I have any experience with personally.) So.. thoughts?

The TI Jazz Rounds are probably the lowest tension strings I have ever put on a bass. They sound great but do give you the feeling of playing wet noodles. If you have a light touch, like to play chords, and need a 'fast' setup, these strings might be for you.

The TI Jazz Flats are special beasts too. Low tension for a flat (but more than the TI Jazz Rounds). Not your traditional thump machine, more focus on the mids, less extended bass. I prefer Chromes.

Haven't tried any other TIs on my 6-string.

I have TI flats on my Ibby...and have had them for almost two years...they just keep sounding better...so, at the moment, I'm out 30 bucks a year for those strings....I know people who have used the same set for ten years....that's fifty cents a month for strings....so, for me, while it's a big initial investment, it's MUCH cheaper over the long haul....but that's just me....(and really, is 75 bucks (what, IIRC a set of six costs) REALLY all that much money?)

Have just put TI s On my Ibanez SR505. They are nothing short of amazing. It is going to take a little while to get used to the tension. Very little pressure needed to get string to fret board. The thing I like the most is the professional sound from all the strings. A great buy. Its still a matter of taste, but I would recommend them.

I, too, have just recently put TI flats on my sr505. I had a barely used four-string set that I had tried out a couple of years ago on both my P and Jazz basses, and just hated them on both of those. On the Ibanez, I am loving everything about them, and I'm not finding the tension too low at all. Go figure. And while the B string is huge compared to the E, and by itself costs as much as most other full sets of strings--it's not at all floppy. And to my ears, it sonically matches the rest of the strings quite well--which a lot of B strings don't necessarily do.

I'm currently using a set of GHS flats on my Douglas sixer. The tension is perfect for me and allows for a very low action.

I tried TI flats on my old Ibanez BTB1206. They had way more sustain than I thought of flats having. They had a smooth, articulate sound that worked great with everything but harder rock styles (which, ironically, was what I was mostly playing at the time). Totally worth the money though. I kept them on that bass until I sold it. They still sounded great after about a year of moderate use.

I started a thread on this topic a few months ago. I wasn't sure if a set of TI's for my Ibanez 756 was worth it. Well, a friend had TI's on his basses (5 string) and decided to take them off. So, he's selling a to me ($25). I ordered a single c string from Bass strings online, so I'll have a full set for $40. String do come up for sale in the classified from time to time. I don't have any reservations about buying these used, as everyone says they only sound better as they age. I still have the stock Eixirs that came on my Ibanez, but they died about two weeks ago. They felt and sounded good, until they died. And when they died, I mean they died.
