Hi everyone,

My girlfriend is getting me a lovely custom bass for Christmas (it's all finished etc and it looks amazing) and the luthier has put a 5-string set of Powerbass strings on it. I've done a search and they seem like interesting strings but as they're a departure from my usual D'Addario or Ernie Ball my question is this:

Does slapping and tapping sound good with these strings or would I be better off sticking with something a bit more 'mainstream'? Don't get me wrong, I'd mostly play fingerstyle but when I do slap or tap I like a bit of zing to my sound.

Cheers,
John.

Congrats on the bass and girlfriend both!

I have a set of these strings coming today and look forward to trying them out on my Sadowsky P and may even try them on my new Modulus jazz just to see which bass I like them on better.

So I can't offer much input as of yet, but I will let you know next week what I think of them.

They are terrific strings that sounds bright and responsive. While I don't slap or pop very much, I think they would sound quite good with that style.
