Thomastik Infeld Superalloy IN345

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a set of TI superalloy IN345 strings to put on my 98 Modulus flea5. Ive heard all kinds of great things about TI and was so excited to put them on my bass, until I found out the B string is too long for my bass... the other 4 strings seem to work out okay.
Is there a way to get a B string similar to this one or does TI sell strings individually?
It says Long scale 34" on the package and I thought that's what my bass is?
I had a new set of EB super slinky's 5 and put those on... but im not sure if i like them yet...
Any suggestions on some TI strings that will fit my Modulus flea5?
or anything similar?

How long is "too long"?

EDIT: I see that TI also makes a super long scale set, intended for the 36" scale. Do you have a caliper to measure the string? If so, check it out. If it's a .120, then you got the wrong string in your pack. If it isn't, then you'll just have to carefully put it on.

Its a .125 and too long means the silk is about 1.5-2" past the tuning peg, not sure if i can wind the fat part b4 the silk taper

Less than ideal, but it will work (especially since the string is only .125). Is the string tapered at the bridge?

T-I strings measure 37" Ball End to Silk on their Long Scale strings... 40" Ball End to Silk on their Super Long.

Although, these strings are SUPER slingy! When you pull them out of the sleeves they are like wet noodles! As long as you are not cutting into the outer windings on these and cutting with at least 2" of silk remaining on the tuner, they should be ok wraping around the tuner...

It just seems wrong to start wrapping the fat part b4 the silk? but ill look again... I really want to try these bad boys! Im gonna order some TI flats too but Im guessing there the same length? I want to try some other brands that I havent tried yet like DR and GHS too so I can compare for myself.

The silk part will go on first... but it will end with the wound metal string...

These arent the thickest gauge strings and they are quite flexible...

T-I does make them available individually to dealers.

(I think this is the most generic response I can make without being against the CUP... (if not sorry mods!))
