They probably sound 'best' on the busiest rock songs followed closely by the bouncy jazz tunes. Probably not ideal for metal as they aren't very bright or percussive in the way that I perceive metal players want. But really I like them with everything I do. I don't have quite the same percussive impact when slapping with them as I do with rounds, but once I get going I like it different then I did with the rounds. |

P with flats nails the classic Motown vibe, as well as classic rock, jazz, and any sort of more mellow music like country. I also use this combo with a pick for a Robin Trower set my trio does, and I can get the perfect tone for that, i.e. very close to James Dewar's great work on the first two albums.
Ditto for Police tunes.
I have the same strings on the fretless Jazz (D'Addario heavy Chromes) and it sounds completely different. I use that for my Pino Paladino impersonation...as if! |

Since i use chromes I get good highs for flats if i lean on em or pluck hard....great for blues too.

I mostly play Contemporary Christian/Praise and Worship/Christian Rock and they do a pretty good job. I often tune DADG, because I like a lot of fat low end. These strings are best suited for that. I highly recommend them for any genre!

I love the sound that Wilton Felder got on Jimmy Smith's "Root Down".
Anyone else dig that vibe?
I also play in the praise and worship team at my church.
