Those strings on a Geddy Lee bass

Sign in to disble this ad
I was at GC a few days ago and I spotted a Geddy Lee bass so I decided to play it. First thing I noticed was the strings on the bass. They felt awesome compared to the strings I have on my Squier, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me what type they are. Surely lots of people here must have played a new Geddy bass at GC before.

I think Geddy uses Rotosound, but I am sure Fender uses their own branded strings on it. YMMV

Stock Fender strings, I would guess. The website says, "Super 7250M," which are .045-.105 nickel-plated steel roundwounds.

if you go to www.fender.com and go to the Geddy Lee bass, it will tell you what strings they have on it.

EDIT: here you go i did it for you. Super 7250M, NPS, p/n 073-7250-006,
Gauges: (.045, .065, .085, .105)

That's a MIJ Fender, so there's a good chance that they are the mystery rounds Fender Japan uses. The Fender strings that came on my MIJ Fenders have not been at all like the 7250s.

Did they have silks on them?

I asked at the Fender Forum, and no one can really say what strings Fender Japan uses.

It might be like those mystery strings you mentioned that Fender Japan uses.

I'm betting on the mystery Fender Japan strings. They come on the Jags, too. No one really knows what they are.

I have a Geddy and still play the stock strings on it. They are really good for being stock. Can't wait to put new ones on there. I'm going with the trend and putting Rotosound Swing 66 on it. But the stock strings do feel pretty good.
