I love these strings!! I put some on my MIM fender Jazz V. I have a four string set with a fender high C string, but with standard 5-string tuning. they are the perfect size. They feel and sound wonderful. Great warmth and they stay at just the right brightness.

For the money they cost they SUCK!
They have no bottom and lack mids. Get some DR Sunbeams or LO-Rider Nickels.

I am partial to GHS Pressure wounds but the bass that is on its way to me was just strung with power bass strings and I just wanted to know if I should get a set of my strings or would the power bass ones be good? MIA Jazz Lindy Frailin Pickups, Audere Pre Amp. Bad Ass III Bridge and Power Bass strings

Bringing this thread to the top. I use Jazz ROUNDS on my fretless but am wondering if the Power Bass might be a good option for my fretted 5.

Any other thoughts with explanations on these strings? Esp those who have used both the Jazz and Power.

I've indeed been using both.

Jazz Round is very live and punchy, like an over the top version of Spirocore (TI's legendary double bass string). It delivers an extended range sound from extremely deep bass to finest highs. Thereby sounding luxuriously rich. Best played pizz. Because of its quite thinnish roundcore it is difficult to control, though...

... which was the reason I subsequently switched to Powerbass. Now this one again belongs into the extended range dept. with a blossoming double bass like bass, really fine growly mids, plenty of brillance, round and punchy slap sounds. Unlike both Jazz series strings (flat & round), these are quite heavy gauge strings with quite heavy a tension, though as for their feel this somewhat compensated for by the very thin hexcore. When moving from pizz to slap it is like they had a slap conture switch built in They also last very long.

The main reason I moved on to other brands was I wanted more of a dry cutting slap sound. Of course, you can coax that out of them, too, using suitable EQ settings. But then I also didn't find the heavy gauge/hard tension really worth the effort. I simply prefer lighter strings, especially as I occasionally include some tapping into my playing, too.

If TI offered a lighter hexcore string I'd surely gave it a shot. Alas, with the Infeld-Superalloy they moved in the opposite direction
