The DR strings tend to "thump" more though to my ear, after I've turned down all the treble, and bumped up some lows and mids, though I think most strings will respond well to this.
I'd say start off with DR's Hi Beams, they're pretty bright but if you've got the tone controls they thump really really well, and I prefer them to nickels when I want thump.

Rounds that thump to me would be lighter gauge rounds that have been on there a while.
I suggest Ernie Ball 40-95 Slinkies that have been played about 10 hours. |
