TI customer support is the bomb.

Hey guys; thought you might enjoy this. This is why I use TI strings.

Dear Jordan,

Thank you for your e-mail. We appreciate your feedback on
Thomastik-Infeld strings.

Your unfortunate report about the D string breaking is highly unusual.
We certainly stand behind our product and will send out a replacement
set tomorrow.

We would appreciate it if you could send us the D string and the
remaining set to us once you have received your new set. We send all
strings like this back to Thomastik-Infeld's R&D department for complete
testing to determine why the strings did not perform as indicated.
Please use our packaging for the return shipment.

Again, thank you for using Thomastik-Infeld strings.

My best,

Chris

Subject:

Dear TI;
I am a serious bassist, and first and foremost, I would like to say
"WOW!". Ive
had a set of the 4 stringer jazz flats for about 4 months, and I am
utterly
amazed at how they sound. Incredibly pleased with the tone I can get on
my
fretless, and am astounded at the fact that they age and just get
better.
Unfortunatly, I was playing by bass today, and on a string that I wasnt
even
sticking (the D), the string snapped. I know I may be wayyy out in left
field;;
but is a replacement set possible? If not, are there any techniques or
tricks to
keeping these strings alive for longer?
Sincerly and many thanks;
Jordan

Nice, +1 on the customer service for them. What kinda sound the strings produce? (I've never heard of TI)

Very thumpy, throaty, middy sound. Incredibly low tension, very smooth. Almost like an upright.

Thomastik has been making strings for what....200 years, so, I'm not surprised at the attention they gave you. Plus, they need feedback from their customers, so, good that you informed them of your situation. What comes around goes around ehh?

I'm sure you've already done this, but, if not, have you looked at your nut and bridge to make sure there are no barbs and that the string path is smooth?

Smooth and clean (Shes my baby...she gets taken care of). Interestingly, it broke in the main section of the string...just below the bridge pickup. Very bizarre. My new set arrived today, and they have solidified a long-term customer.
